Hyundai Encourages You to Have Babies

As birth rate is quite low in its native country, Hyundai unified forces with the South Korean government to encourage people to have babies.

Thus, the South Korean car manufacturer and Seoul City government have signed a partnership agreement to support childbirth by offering discounts to car buyers who have a new baby or scheduled to have one this year, Autoblog has learned via The Korea Herald. In fact, the South Korean government's incentive plan to encourage families to have babies comes in addition to an already existing benefit of providing a 50 percent exemption on car registration taxes to large families residing in Seoul.

More importantly, for couples who have more than three kids, the discounts are even more substantial. Therefore, bigger families with more than three children under 18 could save up to 1.1 million won, for instance, on a purchase of a car worth about 20 million won. The saving comes from an 800,000 won tax exemption bestowed by the city government and Hyundai Motor's discount of 300,000 won.

However, the chance to save 300,000 is available for households who have Seoul City's "Dadoongi Happy Card," which was created in 2007, Dadoongi meaning a family with more than two children. This card which was  sponsored by the government provided families with more than two children with grand discounts and mileage points for items and events launched by partnering companies.

So, here's the plan: you bring the baby, Hyundai supply you with car and the government comes with the discount. To be honest, they couldn't have imagined a brighter scenario. On the one hand, Hyundai is concluding partnerships with the government and thus, it makes sure they have a shoulder to rely on if (someday) this will be needed. On the other hand, it takes advantage of this opportunity to sell more vehicles during the financial downturn.
