The Hyundai Veloster came to the market as an extremely bold proposal, but in its current form, the vehicle lacks the muscle needed to back that up.
However, all that is about to change: Hyundai recently announced a turbocharged version of the vehicle’s 1.6-liter, direct-injected engine and Hyundai Motor America CEO John Krafcik has recently confirmed that a turbocharged incarnation of the car is coming to the US market, as Car and Driver writes. The new unit delivers 204 hp.
If Hyundai also does something about the bland steering, we’ll have an interesting hot hatch proposal. The Hyundai Veloster Turbo will debut at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show, with Hyundai also set to use the event to give us a facelifted version of the Genesis Coupe.
The latter will have its engine outputs increased, in order to be better differentiated to the Veloster.
