Hyundai Canada Reports Best July Ever

After months of seeing automakers worldwide struggling with depleting sales, it's time to finally see the other side of the coin. With the automotive industry on a rebound (even if, some say, this is only an illusion), Hyundai Canada joins other automakers in posting a record July in terms of sales.

With an increase of 37 percent compared to the same month of 2008 and 10,488 units sold, Hyundai announced it had the best July on record in Canada, adding to the double-digit year-over-year increase. Hyundai's case however is special, as the manufacturer posted, since February 2009, best-ever months, with 2009 being, so far, the best in the company's history in the country. The best month on record was May, with 11,204 units sold.

"Sales figures like these are not a passing fad," John Vernile, vice president, Hyundai Auto Canada Corp said upon announcing the results. "July marks seven straight months of sales increases for this company. And if you look at 2008, we were up almost every month then, too. This success isn't a fluke. It is the result of an automotive company providing what people want at the price they can afford, topped off with award-winning quality and gorgeous design."

The biggest gainer in Hyundai's line-up is the Santa Fe, who's sales nearly doubled, increasing by 96 percent since July 2008. Elantra did even better, with an increase of 123 percent.

For the first half of the year, Hyundai increased its sales by 21 percent, an amazing feat, given the fact that the industry as a whole decreased by about the same amount.
