Hyundai's most back-to-basics model sold in the US, the Accent, was launched back in April 2011. Now, the California based company is announcing updates which will affect the 2014 model year, offering extra features and improved styling.
Standard features include one-touch triple turn signal, sliding sun visors and a driver’s blind spot mirror. The audio system has also been updated and has better voice recognition and button layout.
As for the styling, Hyundai has added LED accents to the headlights to the 5-door SE and 4-door Premium Package models. These have a welcome/escort features, basically a welcoming feature when you approach the car and the lights come on.
The Accent continues to offer a 1.6-liter Gamma four-cylinder engine rated at 138 hp and 123 lb-ft of torque. This gets an estimated 38 mpg highway fuel economy. Hyundai says this is the only subcompact with GDI (gasoline direct injection), offering the highest specific output and best fuel economy. But you can read more about it in the press release below.
