Hyundai Motors has seen its global business increase 16.7 percent in the first quarter of 2012 compared to the same period a year ago. The Koreans have also broken a landmark level, as for the first time 1,072,679 vehicles were delivered to customers around the globe.
The Kia brand performed just as well, delivering a total of 636,398 vehicles in the first quarter of the 2012, 12.6 percent more than a year ago.
Hyundai’s income from the carmaking business came to 2.45 trillion won, or $2.16 billion, while profit increased 24.9 percent to 2.28 trillion won ($2 billion).
Hyundai’s current estimates for 2012 sit at 4.3 million cars delivered for the Hyundai brand alone, and 7 million in total. But these figures could easily be broken considering the current pace of growth and the fact that they have new models like the i30, cee’d or ix45 (Santa Fe) making their way onto the global market this year.
