The name of the Hyosung GD250N may not be laden with the almost mystical vibe other quarter-liter machines, such as the Ninja 250/300 or Honda’s CBR250R come with, but by all means, we can anticipate quite an interesting move in the European small-displacement market. South-Korean maker Hyosung has started shipping the bike to its new Italian distributor, and we can expect that the GD250N will make it soon in all dealerships around Europe.

The 249cc liquid-cooled parallel twin can produce 28 horsepower at 9,500 revs and 24Nm (17.7 lb-ft) at 7,000, and its 6-speed manual gearbox is equally useable for streaking through the urban clutter and for fast highway hauls. Stopping power comes from a 300mm hydraulic disc and a 230mm rear rotor, with both wheels made from cast lightweight alloy and equipped with tubeless tires.
Front suspension relies on a 37mm inverted Kayaba fork, while the aluminium swingarm is linked to the main frame with an offset (right side) single shock absorber mounted almost horizontally. And with a wet weight of 145 kg (320 lb), underbelly racing-look exhaust, an overall very robust character and modern design, the naked Hyosung GD250N seems like one of the really great small-displacement all-rounders you could spend your money on.
