Hydrogen Fuel-Cell Scooters Ready for Taiwan Production

While Taiwan may not be at the forefront of alternative fuel development, it is a state which has the financial power to start its own green program. And thus, the Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) have just announced that they had completed the testing phase for their hydrogen fuel-cell scooter.

Apparently, a total of 30 scooters took part in the test, clocking up around 120,000 km, in various driving conditions, both inside and outside of towns. The scooters themselves are capable of reaching a top speed of 70 km/h (44 mph) and need only 90 grams of hydrogen to travel 50 km (31 miles).

Also, if they manage to sell 100,000 of them, this means that they would theoretically be able to sell each scooter for around $2,400 (€1,950), making them an economically-viable solution. Sadly, even if they do manage to get them into production, they will only be sold in Asia (mainly countries where two wheels are preferred).
