Husqvarna Enters Moto3, Says KTM and Huskies Will Be Different... in the Future

There's bit quite a stir with Husqvarna announcing they'll be entering Moto3 as of 2014.

Of course, after all the fuss and hassle with the brand changing hands this year and all the production moved to Mattighofen and all, many voices in the industry asked directly whether the new Husky Moto3 machine is a rebadged KTM or not.

While the crisp "yes" we all expected was never uttered, Pit Beirer tried to ease up things and told motogp.com that even if the bikes "start from the same base" and Husqvarna will have to with what they have. So it was a longer king of "yes".

This is not exactly a new thing,as Gilera and Derbi also used rebadged Aprilia machines in the past, so such practices are not exactly a surprise.

What's interesting though, is that Beirer also declared that Husqvarna will be a completely different company, with their own marketing and the 2015 bike will see major differences from the first one.

I know this sounds like civil war in Pierer Industries AG's own yard, but we must trust that Mr. Pierer knows what he's doing. One things is sure: in case KTM allows Husqvarna to properly develop, it's both the series and the public who are the winners, as competition is a great motivation for progress.

Beirer also says that Husqvarna is anyway forced to change and improve, as the changes in Moto3 regulations demand this. 2014 will see only 6 engines per rider, while 2015 comes with a 13,500 rpm limit. So times are a changing...

Husky will have Danny Kent and Niklas Ajo as riders in their respective teams which will be run by Aki Ajo.
