They say that one of the things that can keep a relation going is a good sense of humor. Of course, for things to work, it has to be present on both sides - otherwise, one spouse's jokes could either fall on deaf ears or, even worse, get misinterpreted and have the opposite effect.
Leaving written notes for one another is a great way of showing you care because you live in the same house and see each other all the time, so putting something on paper instead of spilling it out in a conversation makes it rather special. Usually, these notes end up pinned under the refrigerator magnets and contain either cheesy stuff like "I love you," or very practical instructions such as "dinner's in the oven, I'm at the hairdresser."

This couple from Scotland did things a little differently. Scott Wilson, a mechanic engineer, and his wife Maria, who owns a small business, also have two sons to deal with, so they're probably pretty caught up with life. However, when Maria got a new car - a Mark III Volkswagen Golf GTI, Scott took the time to give her a short checklist of things she should and should not do. A bland list would have been insulting, but when you pen it to contain various "inside jokes," it becomes the kind of thing you remember over the years. And, apparently, also makes the news.

It's not that Scott is a misogynist or that he doesn't trust his wife's driving abilities, but there's a bit of history there. For instance, The Mirror reports that Maria has been known to drive four miles on a flat tire and also ruined several alloy wheels with a little help from nearby curbs. She's also prone to ignore any lights that come up on the car's dashboard and just "turn the radio up and hope it goes away" when she hears any weird noise. Good thing she married a mechanic, then.

And a funny one at that. Just have a look at the note and try not to giggle a little, if not even relate with Scott on some of the points he makes. We don't really know why the "die" in "diesel" is bolded out, but hopefully, Maria will be wiser about it. Apparently, she found it hilarious so there was no need to fold out the couch.
