A 50-year old husband from Pennsylvania decided to actually keep his promise the moment he threaten his wife he’ll put her car in the river. The man, who is in the middle of divorce proceedings, lost his nerve, literally stolen his wife red 1990 Corvette and drove it into the Delaware river.
When two people just can’t stand each other anymore things can sometimes take quite the a bad turn and that is pretty much what happened with these married couple. Problem is, the trigger was in fact a disagreement that started from the family vehicles.
Off-camera, the wife told Eyewitness News her husband has been driving the Corvette and threatened to dump the car in the river if she didn’t meet his demands. It turns out the stunt was in fact payback for not allowing him to drive the van the two own. Problem is, apart from ruining the woman’s car, which according to police is registered on her name, the man also put the police divers’ lives in risk.
According to the police officers, the 50-year old man dumped the car just below the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge on Monday, and took of as witnesses watched the car submerge. The Police Marine Unit were also called in and after about half an hour divers found the car in 30 feet (9 meters) of cold water.
This is why, apart from the divorce itself, the man is getting a really bad headache considering he’s now facing several misdemeanor charges including reckless endangerment for putting police offers and divers in harm’s way during the search and recovery of the Corvette.

Divers risked their lives
"There was no visibility whatsoever. The divers just had to go by feel. They found the vehicle, they went inside it which is extremely dangerous because you can get trapped with all the debris. They were able to feel that there was no one inside”, Philadelphia Police Inspector Scott Small explained.This is why, apart from the divorce itself, the man is getting a really bad headache considering he’s now facing several misdemeanor charges including reckless endangerment for putting police offers and divers in harm’s way during the search and recovery of the Corvette.
