In case you haven't been glued to our website lately, or last week to be more specific, we got the chance to bring you some spy photos of an odd-looking sports car camouflaged from head to toe. The peculiar creation is set to wear the Hurtan Grand Albaycin moniker.
Developed by an elusive boutique carmaker from Spain called Hurtan, we told you that the Grand Albaycin is essentially a re-bodied Mazda MX-5 Retractable Fastback, made to look like a mix of 1960s British and Italian lightweight sports cars.

As it happens, there will be not one, but two versions of the upcoming retro-looking sports car and the first one to hit the spotlights will actually be based on the regular MX-5 Roadster.

Spy photographers have managed to catch another pre-production prototype in a leisurely testing run around Spanish roads, this time as a traditional roadster with the top down.

The almost total lack of heavy camouflage makes us think that this is actually the first model to be revealed this Friday, on January 22, while the MX-5 RF-based model we already covered will likely be launched at a later date.

Since the soft top is down, we can finally see the interior of the British Racing Green model, which seems pretty much identical to the one used by the Mazda donor car, but with some extra wood trim, bespoke tan leather upholstery, and Hurtan logos sprinkled all around.

While the Grand Albaycin coupe/targa model looked more like a mix between a Ferrari GT car of the 1960s and a British sports car, the roadster is more conventional-looking at first glance.

Not everyone might enjoy the somewhat odd proportions given by the increased front and rear overhangs or the bug-eye headlamps and bulbous wheel arches, but we can definitely appreciate the idea behind the car and the two-tone look.

Technically, the models should be pretty much identical to the Mazda MX-5, so they will be powered by either a fast-revving 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 131 PS (129 horsepower) or a torquier 2.0-liter with 184 PS (181 hp).
