We’ve met the Spyder incarnation of the Lamborghini Huracan on the Frankfurt floor, but we haven’t gotten the chance to see it running around in the real world. Until now, that is.
Did we say “real world”? We meant the Raging Bull world, because that’s where the open-top V10 supercar was recently spotted. We’re talking about the Lamborghini factory in Sant’Agata Bolognese, where an example of the Spyder was recently filmed displaying its Rosso Mars splendour.
As it happens on many such occasions, the test cars still wear their camouflage, so for those of you who haven’t been following the Frankfurt offensive, the second video below will cover that - you’ll get to see the ba dum tss unveiling of the Huracan Spyder, as well as Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann with a beard.
After all, the process of chopping the roof off leaves us with a sculpture-like area behind the rear seats. Seriously, you can probably lose yourself for a few hours, admiring the styling details that separate the open-air model from the Coupe. While the designers’ work is a treat to the eye, the engineers had their say in this, ensuring the new shapes provide the necessary cooling for the 5.2-liter V10 delivering 610 PS (602 hp).
And since we mentioned the top, we’ll tell you this can be operated in 17 seconds up to a speed of 31 mph (50 km/h).
As for the performance, the Huracan Spyder needs 3.4 seconds to hit 62 mph from a standing start, while its maximum velocity sits at 201 mph (324 km/h). For the sake of comparison, we'll mentiuon the fixed roof model is 0.2s quicker to 62, while its top speed sits 1 mph higher.
And yes, you’ll be able to enjoy the aural pleasures of that V10, since the Huracan Spyder follows its predecessor in terms of offering a power-operated rear window.
