Huracan Performante vs. Aventador SV is an Epic Lamborghini Drag Race

With supercar makers often making more than one mid-engined beast, you often wonder if paying more money for the top-end model is worth it, at least from a performance point of view. The Huracan has performance in its name, but can it take down the legendary Aventador SV?

One has a V10 and the other a V12, but the gap between these two is much bigger than you'd think. You see, the Aventador SV is super-expensive, often found online at over $500,000. The Huracan Performante isn't exactly cheap either, costing about $280,000.

Obviously, you can't expect the car that's twice the price to be twice as fast too, but he official numbers posted by the manufacturer state the Aventador is at least quicker to 60mph, taking 2.8 seconds versus 2.9s. However, the outcome of the drag race organized by Carwow is downright shocking in this regard.

Let's get some numbers out of the way first, though. The 5.2-liter V10 of the Performante produces 531-hp and (640 HP) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque. Thanks to an infusion of carbon fiber, it weighs 1,555kg (3,429 lbs). Meanwhile, the LP750-4 packs a 6.5-liter with 740-hp (750 if it's in metric) and 690 Nm (509 lb-ft). It's also about 200 kg heavier, so is that why it loses the race? Oops, we spoiled it.

No, the difference seems to be down to the traction of the smaller car, maybe the power delivery and the quickness of the twin-clutch gearbox in the Huracan. The second drag race is especially savage, as it puts a lot of distance between it and its more expensive rival. Also, in the rolling race, we see the power comes in faster for the V10 for some reason.

With that being said, we leave you to watch the drag race. Strangely, this doesn't feature Yiannimize's Yanni, the wrapper who had such good banter with Mat Watson in the past and also owns a mighty Aventador.
