Hundred Thousandth Skoda 1.2 TSI Engine Produced

Just a few months after it has entered production at the engine and transmission manufacturing plant in Mladá Boleslav, Czech manufacturer Skoda Auto announced it has already produced its hundred thousandth 1.2 TSI engine. Moreover, since things are going so well, the carmaker has increased production of this engine to 1,250/day.

“The production of this engine is going to continue even throughout the upcoming company-wide holiday,”
the company reveals in a statement,

This all-new 1.2 TSI petrol engine is available on the Fabia, the Roomster, the Octavia and the Yeti, as well as a range of other models of the VW Group brands.

The unit comes with two power options (63 kW and 77 kW). The Fabia with the 1.2 TSI 77 kW and optimised seven-speed twin-clutch DSG gearbox offers a combined consumption of only 5.3 litres of petrol/ 100 km and CO2 emissions of just 124 g/km.

“This is another milestone in the 110-year history of engine production in Mladá Boleslav. The massive demand for the 1.2 TSI shows that our engines with optimised consumption are the right direction,” Skoda Auto BOD Chairman Reinhard Jung, said in a company statement.

Skoda Auto achieved record sales of its 1.2 litre petrol engines made in Mladá Boleslav (TSI and three-cylinder HTP) already last year, when it produced 367,880 engines of which 59.5% were delivered to the other VW Group brands.

Aside from the assembly process, Skoda's main plant also performs the engine block casting and machine-works some of the key components.
