Hulkenberg in Talks with Williams for F1 Seat

Hulkenberg might compete in Formula One next year for Williams if the British team activates a contract option, says Nico's manager Willi Weber. The 21-year-old German driver is the current test driver for Williams F1 team, while also running for ART Grand Prix team in the GP2 series.

Nico Hulkenberg, who won the Formula Three Euroseries in 2008 with Nicolas Todt's team, ART Grand Prix, is managed by Willi Weber, who also managed Michael Schumacher's very successful career.

Hulkenberg already finds himself in a very promising situation due to his ART team seat and being backed by traditional Schumacher sponsors like Dekra and Deutsche Vermogensberatung. The German, who tested with Williams before, is confident of securing a seat for the 2010 Formula One season. Even though Nico Hulkenberg is upset with the in-season testing ban implemented by the FIA for 2009, he believes the team knows his driving style and potential in order for them to take a decision.

The young driver thinks he's ready to make the step to Formula One and prove his talent. Weber wants Hulkenberg in F1 beginning next season and for that he was in talks with every Formula One team “except Red Bull” according to his statement for Germany's Sport Bild.

"I have not only held conversations with Williams” said Weber. “However if Williams takes up the option, we will drive there for certain" which means Hulkenberg's chance to move to Formula One depends very much on Williams team's decision.
