HSV Senator SV Special Edition is Limited to 52 Examples

When the Holden Special Vehicles skunkworks announces a new special edition, you’d better be ready for something great. The latest vehicle to wear the HSV emblem is this mean machine right here, a special edition model baptized the Senator SV.

It’s curious why Holden still uses this nameplate, more so when you think of what other meaning it has, but we can’t complain about anything else. Based on the Senator Signature, the 2015 Holden Senator SV is limited to just 52 units with added audacity.

Two units will go to New Zealand, while the other 50 are destined to hit Australian HSV dealerships. With production slated for begin this month, you might want to know that it’s business as usual under the hood: a 340 kW (462 horsepower) LS3 V8 motor sends 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) to the rear wheels via a Tremec TR6060 six-speed stick shift or a six-speed automatic.

Available in four distinct exterior hues (Nitrate, Prussian Steel, Heron and Phantom), the HSV Senator SV special edition holds a sticker of AUD 83,990, the equivalent of $65,469 based on current exchange rates. The first limited-run Senator since 2008 also packs a number of performance bits and comfort bobs.

AP Racing 4-piston brake calipers, Magnetic Ride Control suspension, racy seats dressed in Onyx leather, 20-inch SV Rapier forged alloys and black exterior trim round off most of the SV package nicely. So what will it be, ladies and gents from the Land Down Under - this rarefied breed or the HSV Clubsport R8? Truth be told, there's quite a considerable price difference between the two Aussie-built performance sedans.
