HRT to Debut 2011 Car on Friday

Hispania Racing F1 Team will debut its 2011-spec challenger, the HRT F111, during the Friday running of this week's test in Barcelona.

The Spanish team has released a set of images of their new single-seater on the Internet in early February, but race driver Narain Karthikeyan told the media shortly after that the first time the car will get to be tested will be during the final 4-day meeting of the off-season.

Reports in Spain earlier this week had suggested that HRT F1 will debut their car either on Thursday or on Friday, not before announcing their second driver for the 2011 campaign though. Now, according to a report from British magazine Autosport, it appears the car will make it to the track on Friday.

However, that isn't to mean the racer will get to be driven only one day, as HRT has sit out the Tuesday running on Circuit de Catalunya in order to extend their stay in Barcelona for one more day.

As far as the team's drivers situation is concerned, Italian driver Vitantonio Liuzzi reportedly traveled to Spain this week in order to meet with the team officials and set up the final details of their contract for 2011. A deal is expected to be reached within hours, and is to be announced by HRT later today or tomorrow, according to reports.

There's no contract yet, but they need an experienced driver while I'm free after the Force India split, so the elements are all there,” recently admitted Liuzzi in an interview with Autosprint.
