HRT F111 Unveiled in Barcelona

Hispania Racing F1 Team has become the last squad in the 2011 Formula 1 entry list to show its new car to the media, during a media event held in the Circuit de Catalunya pit lane.

After confirming Vitantonio Liuzzi as their second starter for the 2011 campaign, and therefore completing their lineup for the new season, the Spanish team unveiled their F111 challenger in front of reporters on Friday, in the penultimate day of testing this off-season.

Pictures of the car had been released by the team on its official website ever since early February, but the aerodynamic package and several other important parts of the car have only been ready recently. Both Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan will get equal time at the wheel of the new challenger later today and throughout Saturday.

From an aerodynamic standpoint, there isn't much to tell of the F111, as its characteristics have been noted last month. The car was designed by former Red Bull employee Geoff Willis and represents a major evolution of last year's struggling Dallara-based single seater.

In terms of livery, the car's white and orange scheme was created by Hollywood designer Daniel Simon.

Except for the second group test of the winter in Jerez, Hispania has participated in all F1 meetings this year, only it used its 2010-spec challenger for testing purposes. Meaning that the team will only have today and tomorrow to evaluate the behavior of their F1 car, fitted with the adjustable rear wing and updated aerodynamics.
