HRT F1 Terminate Dallara Contract

The fact that the officials of Hispania Racing F1 Team are not at all happy with Dallara's work on developing their 2010 challenger is no secret to anyone, as hard as team principal Colin Kolles might try to hide it these days.

After some intense criticism from both technical director Geoff Willis and business affairs boss Manfredi Ravetto directed at Dallara's poor chassis provided to HRT F1, Kolles came out in the media and denied such reports. He insisted that the supposed criticism from those two HRT figures has been misinterpreted by the journalists but did reveal that the team's collaboration with Dallara has been indeed terminated.

These plans (of HRT) have nothing to do with criticisms of Dallara. These are two different things. The criticisms, after I spoke with the people (involved), were perhaps misinterpreted and misquoted,” said Kolles in a brief interview with Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

That is point number one. Point number two is how the team will work in the future. It was clear from the outset that the contract with Dallara is completed. It ended on the date on which we ran our cars. That we might consider continuing with Dallara is only one out of three or four options,” added the Romanian-born official.

Following the criticism over Dallara's work, Willis was believed to seek a new commitment in the series, since the F110 car cannot be improved drastically through the 2010 season. Although several reports hinted that his next team would be Force India Mercedes by this week's Chinese GP, it seems the Brit is still in HRT's backyard for the time being.
