We’re pretty sure you’ve seen vertical parking lots before. Most of these are normally automated. Well, this Japanese architect designed a home that features a vertical car elevator that allows the owner to pick the car for the day. It’s not quite the same thing with a smart parking which normally is installed in crowded cities where space is of great value, yet rather a rich man’s fad but it works by the same principle.
Kneji Yanagawa's house was designed to fit in the cramped urban areas such as Tokyo, but as opposed to regular parking solutions of the sort he tried to keep this one attractive for the well-heeled buyer. As far as we can tell, the house is a two-story building with a total floor area of 146.70 square meters. The garage’s elevator is somehow connected to the street and once the car was chosen it will automatically move it from the house onto the margin of the bitumen.

Other than the fact you’ll need to make sure you own a maximum of three cars at a time, we believe there also should be some sort of safety measure so that the vehicles won’t fall from the trap.

The good part is that you’ll always know your precious rides are safe from any possible thefts planning to rob you since any person who wants to reach them somehow needs to go through your living room.

Then, there’s also the fact that whenever you miss you Porsche you just need to push the button and have it brought to your living room automatically. How cool is that, right?

We spent a couple of minutes looking at Yanagawa’s projects and we found that the Japanese architect is quite fond of houses that bring the car inside instead of separating it from the insde. We like that.
