Trying to make the world cleaner with low or zero emission cars won’t mean anything if your manufacturing process gulps trees and uses toxic materials.
Toyota knows this better than any other automaker and it’s constantly developing ways to be eco friendly both with their vehicles and manufacturing process. From using solar panels to power certain areas of the factory to recycling most of what others consider junk, the Japanese automaker did it all and it’s still developing new ways to do it.
One of the most important ecological operation performed by Toyota is using returnable containers for shipping parts and accessories, which begun in 2002. Since then, the automaker saved 220 million lbs (100 million kg) of wood and 145 million lbs (65 million kg) of cardboard, the equivalent of 2.7 billion trees.
