The MINI Convertible can be used in 3 variations: with the top down, with the top up and with the sunroof open. In order to open the sunroof, you can use one of 2 methods: from the inside and from the outside.
From the outside you can open the sunroof by holding down the open button on your key fob. This will automatically open the sunroof. In order to close it though, you have to remove the mechanical key from the fob, lock the door using it and then keep it pressed to the right until the sunroof is closer.
From the inside, things are a lot easier. All you need to do is press the convertible switch (above the rear view mirror) toward the back to open it and the other way around to close it. You can do this while standing still or at speeds of up to 70 mph (112 km/h).
