The main difference between the iPod adapter and the auxiliary port is the fact that using the adapter you can control the device using the car's controls. In order to use this feature, you have to use the provided cable.

You'll need to hook it up to your iPod and to the USB port and Aux entry on your car's dash. Both of them are located on the center console, under the passenger side buttons for the electric windows.

If it was successful, when you turn on the car, the device (iPod) will say it's connected. Then you have to go into the audio source menu on your car's system and select iPod from the list of devices. After that, the MINI will sync your music.

When the sync is over, the display will show you a variety of functions and the artist to be played. Also, you can now start using the buttons on your console to control the iPod. You can now also take you pick out of a variety of music browsing choices, explained in the video below. Enjoy!
