Every time you ask a Mazda official why there sn't a hardtop coupe version of the Miata, he'll tell you how this car is all about the sensation of open-air driving and fun. There have been a few hundred coupes made in Japan if we're not mistaken, but never mass production ones.
One potential solution would be to ask a guy to make a roof for you, and we've found a mighty mod that seems perfect for the NB8A MX-5.

A recent Reddit post details a race car built. The prototype roof was built from fiberglass and is considerably lighter than the soft-top. Also, a carbon fiver roof has been built and fitted for further weight reduction. Check out the photos of the build and aerodynamic testing below.

He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
