In the past, if you wanted to shift at an exact rpm to get the most out of your car, you had to install aftermarket gizmos to flash you a light telling you the right moment to shift.
However, today performance cars are equipped by default with such indicators and the Scion FR-S makes no exception. The tutorial bellow will teach you how to set up the flasher and/or buzzer to warn you when to upshift. The system allows you even to set the exact rpm for when the shift light to be displayed, so here are the steps:
- Turn on the ignition but don’t start the engine
- Press the DISP button on the left of the instrument panel until the display will show REV. and some numbers bellow
- Hold the DISP button until the first figure of the number flashes
- Hold it again to set the number of thousands of rotations per minute
- Press the DISP again to move to the hundreds figure
- Hold the DISP to cycle and set that number
- Push the button again to complete the setup.
