Grey plastic... grey plastic everywhere in the outgoing Scion tC model. Yes. it is boring, but that is the way to keep the vehicle’s price down.
So, if you’re sick of light grey plastic trimmings, you can always take them down and repaint them, a very easy and cheap operation to brighten up that sad interior.

Tools required? Fine sandpaper, plastic primer, what-ever-color-you-want spray paint, a cutter, masking tape, old newspapers and a small set of screwdrivers.

Ok, now that you got the materials, here’s what you need to do.
  • Most of the trimming comes off just by prying them open, but there are some screws here and there, so don’t forget to unscrew them before puling the parts away.
  • Having all the trimmings unmounted, take them and sand them. Try to make it even.
  • Next, clean all the surfaces with water or something so that no dust or any other stray materials are left on them
  • Cover the parts you don’t want painted with the masking tape and place the parts on some newspaper so you save your garage floor. It would be best to find a way and hang them in order to apply the paint even.
  • Apply an even coat or two of primer and leave it to dry
  • Next, apply a few layers of paint, but leave each one to dry before spraying the next one.
  • Optional, you can apply a coat of clear coat for extra shininess.
  • Leave them to dry over night and then mount them back on the car.
