If you still have the stock cassette radio unit on your 1999 Toyota Camry, you might want to change it to a modern CD player.
Doing that is very simple and you will only need some basic tools, like a 10mm socket with ratchet and a prying tool. Here’s how to do it:
  • Turn the ignition on but don’t start the engine
  • Pull the handbrake and then pull the gear shifter all the way back
  • Use the prying tool on the plastic trimming surrounding the radio unit and air conditioning controls to snap it off
  • After removing the plastic trim, get the ratchet and remove the four bolts of the radio unit. There are two on each side
  • Pull the radio unit out
  • If you are replacing it with a new one, unmount the metal brackets from the stock one to use them for the new radio.
