The most common 1.6-liter VVTi engine on your Toyota Corolla features a bundle of electrical wires attached to it that controls things like fuel injectors and ignition coils.
If for some reason you’ve decided that you won’t need electricity for your VVTi anymore, here’s a tutorial on how to take all the cables away. You’ll need a 10 mm wrench and a thin screwdriver for prying stuff around. Here are some tips:
The cable bundle runs around the cylinder heads area at the top of the engine, making multiple connections with the alternator, fuel injectors, ignition coils and other accessories
Make sure you disconnect the battery first and then all the connections between the main cables bundle and different engine parts
The removing job should be pretty easy now. Just follow the thick cord and take out any bolts or plastic collars along the way.
If you plan to put the cables back at some point, it’s a good idea to use some paper scotch tape and label each plug you disconnect.
