How to Make a Huge Stick Bomb: Subaru Impreza WRX STI Race

There’s always something fascinating about the functional simplicity of a stick bomb. As it turns out, Subaru also got word about this and they’ve decided to build what is, without a doubt, the coolest stick bomb we’ve ever seen.
The... ahem... creation works thanks to the fact that the sticks are held together in tension. The speed of the “blast” depends on the material used, but you have to be careful as any unit that breaks will most likely cause the detonation of the entire structure.

Subaru used this in their latest marketing stunt, creating some sort of gigantic Hot Wheels track where the 2015 WRX STI races one hell of a stick bomb. As you can see in the adjacent video, one can get pretty creative with such setups and the result is nothing short of spectacular.

Our first impulse upon seeing the clip was to build something similar and race the bomb against one of the RC cars we hold in the office parking. There’s just one problem with this scheme - image how your office, or house, for that matter, will look after the fun is over. Your significant other won’t be too happy about this...

Anyway, just in case you decided you have to do this, we’ve also attached a “making of” clip.
