How to Jump Start a Toyota Prius c

We’ve shown you recently how to jump start a normal Toyota Prius in case the battery runs out. However, the process for doing so on the c model is a bit more tricky.

The Toyota Prius c doesn’t have battery terminals in the engine bay, so you will have to unmount some plastic trimming in order to reach them under the rear seats. Its not as complicated as it sounds and you will only need something pointy, like a pen. Here’s how to do it:
  • Open the rear right passenger door and locate the plastic panel just under the rear seat
  • Use the pen/pointy object to remove the two mounting points. You just need to push them in the middle
  • Pull the plastic cover out to reveal the battery terminals
  • Take the red and black protective caps off the battery terminals and connect the jump start cables to them - red to red and black to black
  • Connect the other cable ends to an auxiliary starting unit or another functional vehicle’s battery
  • Start the auxiliary unit or the functional vehicle and let it work a couple minutes to charge the dead battery
  • Start the Prius and disconnect the cables
  • Let it run to charge the battery or just go for a drive
  • Don’t forget to put the battery’s cover back.
