We're not talking about our usual tuning packages and engine upgrades, we're talking about something much simples, something just for the ladies.

The idea is more widely accepted among women than men, which is why most girly cars appear to be smiling and have round headlights, like the eyes of anime character. Of course the cuteness factor isn’t complete until your Barbie-mobile looks like it wants to pink at you, just like no makeup kit is complete without mascara… or so I’ve head.
Anyway. There’s a cool automotive product aimed specifically at women and it’s called CarLashes. They have been around for a while now and even appeared on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno, so you’ve probably already heard of them. They make a great gift to give to your wife, but there are some things to consider. Even Google co-founder Sergey Brin has them on his… pink Tesla.
Firstly, don’t buy a cheap Chinese copy of the product, as they tend to be lower quality and don’t have the strength and flexibility. The instructions are also in gibberish sometimes.
CarLashes are available in different colors and textures, even chrome for that extra-blingy look. The same company also makes “crystal eyeliner”, basically shiny beads that go over the top of the lashes to cover the area where they attach to the car.
So, how do you CarLashes? It’s pretty easy, but you’ll have to follow these steps with care. First of all, the lashes attach using double-sided take from 3M. This is very strong and won’t come off once it’s let to dry a bit, so make sure you have the right placement first time. It’s also recommended that you stick them to the top side of the headlights underneath the bonnet, because the tape could damage your paint when pulled.
The lash needs to be attached to a clean smooth surface on the vehicle. This is why you need to thoroughly clean the place where you want to stick them. The surface also needs to be smooth, so don’t fix to the rubber trim. Make sure the placement does not interfear with the lights or you’ll get in trouble with the police.
Once you’ve cleaned the lashes and the place you want to stick them to with the prep pad included in the kit, let them dry for a bit and attach the 3M tape to the CarLashes first. Then practice the placement a couple of times without removing the protective film because this tape is very sticky, so there are no second chances. Once you’re ready, go for it!
Remove the red protective cover bit by bit as you work your way along the lash. It’s recommended that you leave them on overnight before going on a drive to get a good bond.
If you’re feeling creative, you can bend the top of the lashes to make a pattern or cut them apart and apply individually.
