If you plan to tow a trailer in the near future, you might want to fit your Toyota with the original tow ball which can be found at any official Toyota dealer.
You can even have a detachable tow ball, which can be dismounted when not towing something. Attaching the tow ball back might seem very easy, but you should pay attention to the correct mounting process. Here are a few tips:
Remove the cover and carefully insert the ball into the housing
Push downwards on the ball until it clicks into position. When done properly, the lock indicator should go green
Only after that you can secure it with the key
Don’t “help” the ball get into position by rotating the release knob. The lock indicator won’t go green and the towing arm won’t be properly attached.
