Japan has really tight regulations when it comes to the noise motorcycle exhausts generate. It may sound funny that the country which gave the planet most of the high-performance machines is so strict in this aspect, but things are nevertheless true.
If a customer enters say, a Ducati shop, and wants to buy an 899 Panigale, he or she will only get the horror version pictured above. And this is happenings because Ducati only sells a few bikes in Japan, and their number makes redesigning a compliant exhaust unfeasible.
Therefore, adding a new silencer to the extremely cool, integrated underbelly ones seems like the way to go. The solution wrecks havoc through the fluid and neat design of the Panigale machines and takes it back in time more than a decade.
To put it more bluntly, the sweet 899 Panigale becomes an effin' ugly bik, just like the Japanese MV Agusta F3 was. I pity the one who had to sign and approve this move, the guy must feel terrible.
