It looks like the old riders' saying about the way learning how to ride a motorcycle never ends is true. At least seeing the crash of this fellow, it surely looks like it is.
According to his own words, the chap has been riding for 28 years. However, this did not prevent the rider from choosing a very bad position in his lane.
Adding in some speed, too, this was enough for him to ride on a trail of gravel, lose control of his BMW R1150GS and lay it down lest he hit the bridge girder. Rider error plus a road in bad conditions caused this crash, with the bike repairs reaching $13k (€9,515).
Both rider and passenger made it pretty well through this: a broken toe and some road rash for the rider, a broken wrist and seriously scraped ankle for the passenger girlfriend.
The biker says that the same corner also claimed a life of a rookie a short time after his crash.
