Most people know that the functional bookmark buttons above the climate control unit are destined to be used for radio stations and to memorize them on a certain button.
However, with iDrive things are a bit better. You can actually customize what each button does, depending on your needs, assigning it to a certain action. For example, you can bookmark a contact on each button so that when you press it, the car automatically calls that contact.
The same thing could be done with an address on the car's navigation system. You can enter an address and then memorize it and bookmark it on one of the 8 buttons. Now, once pressing that button the car will automatically open the navigation screen and guide you to the designated spot.
