How to Activate BMW M3 and M4's Smokey Burnout

In between the Austin Yellow BMW M4 and the Yas Marina Blue M3, BMW's NAIAS booth accommodated a few of their officials and we couldn't help but ask them a brief question.
Smokey Burnout was the topic of the day and in this pre-drive test era, we wanted to at least know how you can activate the feature. When they introduced the new M4 and M3, BMW said the Smokey Burnout "allows the driver to indulge in a degree of rear wheel spin while the car is moving at low speeds."

Well, in order to make this happen, it seems you have to use the same steps as you would for initiating LC (Launch Control), but with a twist. If you slam the throttle, going all the way down, the car understands you're in the mood for burning some rubber and activates Smokey Burnout. Should you "simply" wish to use LC, all you have to do is push the accelerator gradually.

By the way, this new tire-abusing feature isn't actually all that fresh. You see, before the LCI (facelift in Bimmer language), the ex-generation E9X M3 allowed you to pull standing burnouts. This feature was then removed, so you could either perform perfect launches or turn to less generous, dynamic burnouts.

As any good member of the Captain Obvious Society, we're expecting things to have been seriously optimized for the new generation, but we'll be back with more info as soon as we get our hands on one of these BMW Ms. Let's hope we get a Sapphire Black M4 like the one shown in Detroit.
