How Nissan Trashed Audi, Porsche, BMW

Remember the Goodwood Festival of Speed advertising campaign kicked off by Nissan to make fun of Audi, BMW and Porsche? You know, the one which attracted the wrath of Porsche? Well, we've got more photos of what really upset the Germans so much.

In a world where the German “premium” manufacturers are being questioned by more an more carmakers, mostly Asian, this latest Nissan take at Audi, Porsche and BMW is the icing on the cake.

The campaign centered around two Nissan models, the 370Z and GT-R and its German rivals, the Audi TT, BMW Z4 and Porsche Boxster.

The outdoor advertising offensive adopted by Nissan uses phrases like “The Germans Came Off Wurst” or “Deutschland Deutschland Uber-Rated” to sum what what Nissan believes about the three carmakers... Words which are neatly wrapped in a very, very suggestive visual cloth.

Now, we're not sure how the three Germans understood this campaign (except for Porsche, who already cried foul play), but Nissan representatives were pretty confident the campaign is not offensive to its competitors, nor is it untrue.

"It simply challenges the convention of German sportscars being the only benchmark for performance and quality," Steve McLennan, Nissan Marketing Director was quoted as saying by Carscoop back in mid July.

"Nissan is confident in the ability of 370Z and GT-R to eclipse our comparable German rivals in terms of outright performance and accessibility and it's now time to shout about it."

The advertising campaign is not quite over and we expect to see more Japanese fun made on the expense of the German premium manufacturers. Until then, enjoy the photos here.
