You wouldn't believe how many times we got the thumbs up treatment from patrolmen while we were testing cool cars. Many forces around the world have awesome sportscars or supercars in their fleets for a variety of reasons and Australia is no exception.
Porsche Cars Australia recently gave the men in blue from New South Wales this beautiful Porsche 911 Carrera as a replacement for their old Panamera patroller. So, will they be using its precise handling to chase down speeders and put them in jail? Well no, not really. The 911 is a new community engagement vehicle.
The marking have been designed by Sam Nejat, a 31-year-old Iranian student of a Master of Accountancy at the University of Western Sydney. We don't know him personally, but we think you'll agree that Sam was probably inspired by the rapid deployment police supercars in some video games.
The 911 Carrera will live a sheltered life with New South Wales' police forces, being used to attend schools, community events, charity fund-raisers and local youth programs. Law enforcement agents believe a positive interaction between police and the community is very important.
This 350 hp sportscar's first job will be at tomorrow’s International Students Beach Soccer Tournament at Coogee (Sunday 28 September 2014), after which it will visit Sam Nejat's school campus for a day, which is part of his award for designing the markings.
