The most powerful 2-liter engine in the world just got more powerful. The M133 plant that hides under the bonnet of the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is currently holding the title for the world’s most powerful 2-liter engine in production but even so, the 360 HP it makes might not be enough for some.
Come to think of it, that alone is an absolutely mad figure for such a small engine, no matter what nay-sayers claim. Some came out saying that the 4-banger feels artificial and forced but to us, the figures it’s putting down are incredible.

The guys over at Mcchip DKR seem to be going for even more, pushing the limits of forced induction beyond what anyone imagined. They managed to squeeze no less than 453 HP out of the mill that is probably screaming in pain right now, like a Mr. Olympia contender that took too many steroids.

The ECU remap wasn’t enough this time though, as other parts connected to the engine would’ve failed. Therefore, they upgraded the standard AMG turbo, customized the exhaust system (removing the cats and replacing the downpipes) and added a new intercooler. An extra-strength oil cooler could’ve been helpful as well if you’re to ask us.

Therefore the output the car has now - 453 HP and 540 Nm (398 lb-ft) of torque, can purportedly take it up to 300 km/h (186 mph) according to the tuner. Thank God that it has all-wheel drive as we don’t know how things would’ve faired if it was a front-wheel drive model, like the rest of the range.

Furthermore, we’re not really sure how the transmission will handle it, especially the gearbox that might have a hard time dealing with the extra twist. On the handling side, unless some stiffer dampers and bigger brakes are installed, we might be looking at an actual degrading in performance but these are all speculation. The important thing to remember is that this 2-liter engine has 453 HP!
