There’s a new viral star and his name is Teddy. He doesn’t do much by means of entertaining, but he did take a recent ride on a black Toyota. In fact, it’s probably his only ride so far.
Teddy is a giant teddy bear, property of a woman from Houston, Texas, named Bessy Pensamiento. The other day, Bessy had to take Teddy across town to her sister’s, where he would remain while she’s, Bessy, is out of the country.
This is how Teddy came to take the unique ride, strapped on the trunk of a car, to the delight of fellow motorists. It’s also how he became a viral star.
“The only way I can take him, is to strap him really good so, that's what I did,” Bessy tells ABC 7 Eyewitness News. “I made sure that the license plate wasn't covered, and the turning signals weren't covered for everybody's safety.”
Along the way, Bessy and Teddy got a lot of smiles and even a thumbs up from a police officer. For Bessy, that’s all the confirmation she needs that Teddy is truly what she lacked in her life. “Everybody on the freeway was so happy, they were smiling, so I'm glad Teddy could bring a smile on peoples faces,” she says.
The fact that this is a grown woman talking about a humongous stuffed toy as if it were real aside, kudos to Bessy for thinking of her own and other drivers’ safety. It’s not what most people would have done, had they been in need of transporting such a large piece across town.
So, once you get past Bessy’s hysterical laughter, take this as a lesson: if you have to transport oversize stuff on your car, make sure you do it safely. Keep your plates and lights uncovered and use the side mirrors if the view in the rear-view one is blocked.
You might not become a viral star like this lucky (and unlikely) couple, but at least you’ll get to your destination in one piece.
