The week-end is coming so it’s time to bring out the kids in us. Of course, to do this the proper way would require us to get our hands on a hyperpowered four-wheeled creation, head for the first racetrack and put the vehicle through its paces.
But wait, that would bring out the beasts inside us. Ok, let’s see what else we could find. We guess that a set of collectible die-cast models would do the job. Well, guess what? Hot Wheels is preparing the 2011 Vintage Racing collection, a line that will include vehicles from the vintage Trans-Am, Pro Stock and NASCAR, as blog.hemmings.com reports.
Enthusiasts will be able to enjoy a total of 30 cars. The Pro Stock range will include the Hemi Darts of Dick Landy and Shirley Shahan, Dick Landy’s ’70 Challenger, Dave Strickler’s ’70 Camaro RS, a ’73 Sox & Martin Duster. As for the Trans Am line, this will bring back the the Trans-Am brigade will include Dan Gurney’s ’68 Cougar, AJ Foyt’s ’65 Mustang, George Follmer’s #16 ’70 Boss 302, an AAR Cuda, among others. As for the other models, these will include vehicles like Richard Petty’s record-setting ’67 Plymouth.
The die-cast models will be basic models, so don’t expect to get an ultra high level of details. However, the cars will come with metal bodies and basses, and authentic liveries, as well as soft tires.
We don’t know about you, but we’ve already started building a special track for the models here at the autoevolution headquarters.
