Just a few days ago, Subaru – along with Ken Block’s Hoonigan's crew and professional driver and stunt performer Travis Pastrana – gave us an early Christmas present in the form of Gymkhana 2020. With a highly modified Subaru WRX STI as the four-wheeled companion for the “Travis Pastrana Takeover; Ultimate Hometown Shred” installment, it was only fitting for the Japanese company to piggyback with a related announcement.
We’re shamelessly hijacking the company’s official pricing details about the 2021 Subaru WRX and 2021 Subaru WRX STI performance cars because Gymkhana 2020 is so much more than just a video depicting a completely bespoke 862-hp Subaru WRX STI doing stunts with Pastrana at the wheel.

It’s a statement of what’s possible in this day and age when man and machine become one (and when lots of money are also involved, of course). And that 862-hp Subie is clearly bonkers as it sometimes flies so much that we can judge Pastrana as much as a pilot as he is a great driver.

Now, back to the task at hand, which is discussing the 2021 WRX and WRX STI. We’ll start with the customary don’t try this at home (or in your hometown), but you can have a WRX STI that (somehow) resembles Pastrana’s ride for an MSRP of at least $37,245 ($250 more than for 2020MY).

Sure, for the money, you’re only getting 310 horsepower, and the company’s “advanced Driver Controlled Center Differential all-wheel drive,” but at least no one can deny the model’s iconic rally legacy. If you’re a little lighter on cash, there’s always the 2021 WRX, which for the new model year kicks off at $27,495 (the same as for the 2020MY).

Subaru says both models will reach U.S. dealerships starting March next year, and the company has added Keyless Access with Push-Button Start for the WRX Premium grade. All prices we’ve mentioned exclude the $925 destination and delivery fee.

Should customers want the Sport Lineartronic CVT, prices for the 2021 WRX Premium or Limited will go up from $30,045/$32,095 to $31,945 and $33,995, respectively.
