Hot Hatches Come to Nurburgring for First Track Days of 2014

Hot hatches, automobiles designed to take the kids to school on schooldays and then let daddy have some fun on the track. They are at home in the Ikea parking lot and on the drag strip in equal measures.

The cool daddies of Germany descended onto the Nurburgring this Saturday (January 11th), with their pocket rockets proving they have what it takes. This is the first major Touristenfahrt of 2014, with more than a few cars taking advantage of the surprisingly good weather.

The usual Clio RS, Megane RS and Golf GTI make their appearance, but they are joined by the brand new Polo R WRC, a brand new car. We also se a bit of hot hatch royalty in the BMW M135i and the Audi RS3.

Mihnea's favorite cars have already been built, the so-called modern classics from the '80s and '90s. He also loves local car culture from all over the world, so don't be surprised to see him getting excited about weird Japanese imports, low-rider VWs out of Germany, replicas from Russia or LS swaps down in Florida.
