This week has been all about BMW’s new ‘Horse Edition’ models that are set to go on sale on February 1, celebrating the Chinese year of the wooden horse.
Since they are limited in numbers, the price for such a model will also be very restrictive. The M5 Horse Edition will cost CNY1.98 million ($329,995) while the M6 Gran Coupe will be even more expensive, priced at CNY2.77 million ($458,000).
The latter even broke the world record for fastest lap around the Shanghai International Circuit for a production 4-door car, with the help of BMW Driving Instructor, Claudia Hürtgen that managed a 2:28:04 time aboard the Gran Coupe.
Both the M5 and M6 will be fitted with the Competition Package and a couple other optional features and both will have a limited-run production. Only 30 Horse Edition Sedans will be built while the Gran Coupe will be limited to just 6 units.
