If you believe what many are saying online, the strangest things happen in Russia. They have the most violent road rage incidents, the most stupid reactions to crashes, and overall bad behavior in traffic. But every once in a while, something funny in a non-violent way comes across.
Take as example the latest reported by Moscow Times: a horse tried to catch a ride on the bus in St. Petersburg but was denied. And yes, there is video of it: the publication says it was posted on the VKontakte social media platform, where, you probably guessed it, it went viral.
The video begins with the horse grazing by the side of the road, near the bus stop. As a bus pulls it, it calmly walks up to it and tries to get inside, but the driver must have noticed it, because he quickly shut the door. Not that the horse minded it all that much.
“According to some social media users from St. Petersburg, there is a stable next to the bus stop and it’s not surprising to see horses in the area,” Moscow Times says. It also notes that most commenters found the incident hilarious, which of course they did. They cracked jokes about this being Russia, the land where everything is possible, and lamented having lived the day when one horsepower was parked in the wrong place and could not hitch a ride with its ilk.
That said, the horse had the right idea: public transportation is a good and sometimes more time-efficient way of getting to your destination, with minimum impact on the quality of air and overall traffic in the area. It’s also cheaper, but the downside is that you have to share the same space with plenty of other people. The horse wouldn’t have minded that, but not the same goes for the other passengers on the bus.
