“Every team in the pit lane is looking to cut costs, working collectively through FOTA and through the FIA making positive progress. We've adjusted and reacted to those economic situations. Obviously F1's costs have spiraled out of control during the last few years. Red Bull Racing have been prudent in their planning and I don't think our programme will be compromised in any way,” Horner was quoted as saying by autosport.com.
Also, the RBR team principal insisted that the sport will continue to grow in spite of Honda's departure. Several investors are allegedly lined up to purchase the Brackley-based team and that can only mean things will move on inside the sport. Honda F1 Team's Chief Executive Officer Nick Fry revealed that Honda have received at least 3 takeover proposals following their announcement last week.
“We have only had a short amount of time but in the last 12 hours we've had three serious people come to us suggesting they would like to buy the team, so we are still hoping to be there in Melbourne. Obviously we have to go through the normal three-month consultation period with the staff to decide the future of the company and during that time we are hoping to find a buyer,” admitted Fry last week.
As for Red Bull, the Austrian team secured their financial backround for 2009 after signing a deal with computer firm Trust earlier this week. Trust made their first step towards entering Formula 1 last year, when joining forces with Arden International team inside the GP2 Series. This year, both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel will be 'printed' with the Trust name on the chin bar of their helmets.
