Hormonal CEO Marti Eulberg Quits Maserati US

Something must have gone hormonally wrong with Maserati North America's CEO Marti Eulberg as she stepped down as the company's CEO after less than a year in that position to “pursue other opportunities”.

We deeply value the concrete effort of Marti and the MNA team. During a very challenging time, Maserati was one of the very few automotive players in North America to post a positive result in terms of sales in 2008, thus contributing to the second-consecutive record year achieved by the company worldwide,” the company’s global commercial director, Raffaele Fusilli, was quoted as saying by autoweek.

And so, the CEO who boasted about the increase in hormones caused by the Maserati cars just packed her bags and flew to warmer, yet unspecified, companies. One possible reason behind her sudden departure and under-one-year stay within Maserati could be the disastrous 57.8 percent sales drop in March. Apparently, the hormones weren't strong enough to motivate men into buying the cars.

We should remember that at the end of December 2008, Mrs Eulberg was extremely optimistic about the future as she expected 2009 sales "to be about even."

Marti Eulberg started her career at Ford in 1986. At some point, she moved to Jaguar North America where she occupied the position of executive vice president of sales and marketing. That lasted until 2006. Two years later, on June 1, 2008, she was appointed Maserati's CEO.

Until a new CEO is found, Raffaele Fusilli will take care of Maserati's US operation on an interim basis.
