In early December 2014 we brought you sad news from Augsburg and the shores of Lake Bodensee. German bike manufacturer Horex was shutting down because of insolvency caused by the very low sales volumes, and both labor force and management staff was about to be laid off. Horex officials stated back then on the Facebook page that only some sort of unexpected investor could change the situation, and that the company is more than willing to cut a good deal.
Even though not exactly arriving like a Christmas miracle, the investors showed up. German company 3C Carbon Group is the last-minute investor who is willing to spend some money and try to save Horex. Hailing from Landsberg am Lech, in the vicinity of Augsburg, 3C Carbon Group is specialized in manufacturing carbon fiber parts and is also running a very successful German Superbike IDM team.

Winners on the track, maybe winners in the roadster market, too?

In fact, 3C-Racing Team, smashed the competition in the mentioned German superbike series, enjoying a most rewarding 1-2 at the end of the season. The team, who fields two Ducati 1199 Panigale R machines, have secured the top spot with Xavier Fores while his team mate Max Neukirchner was the 2014 runner-up.

No news on the future of the VR6 in-line 6 roadster surfaced at the moment, as it looks like 3C Carbon Group is now focused on delivering spare parts for the bikes already sold. Even though rumors have it that 3C Carbon Group is eyeing returning a Horex bike to the market as soon as possible, it is yet uncertain whether the new bike will retain the 6V engine or a new one will be branded as Horex and sold.

So far, as little news as we seem to receive from Horex is good news, and this is exactly what we wanted to hear from this exquisite manufacturer early in 2015. Maybe 3C Carbon Group’s success on the track is “contagious” and is able to bring better days for Horex, too. Stay tuned.
