Honda Wins 2013 Suzuka 8 Hours Race, Schwantz Shows He's Still Great

A great victory for Honda at Suzuka, Japan his weekend, as the Japanese manufacturer topped the 8 Hours endurance race.
Honda powered the Mushahi RT Harc Pro team, with Leon Haslam, Michael Van der Mark, and Takumi Takahashi as riders, and they finished the 214-lap race with almost a lap ahead of the Yoshimura Suzuki Racing Team consisting of the riders Nobuatsu Aoki, Josh Brookes, and Takuya Tsuda.

The thist step of the podium saw Team Kagayama, with the two-wheel racing legend Kevin Schwantz, Noriyuki Haga and team owner Yukio Kagayama. The American, now 49, recently announced he would be back racing and now he also proved he's still a man to be reckoned with.

For Leon Haslam, this was the first-ever win at the iconic Suzuka circuit. In honor of his racing rival Wayne Rainey, Kevin Schwantz wore a Rainey Replica helmet.

Having recently dominated the Isle of Man TT, the Honda TT Legends McGuinness – Andrews – Rutter trio only finished 22nd. The next round of the FIM Endurance World Championship will be held at Oschersleben in Germany on August 17. To get a better picture of what riding over and under the bridge at Suzuka looks like, watch John Mc Guinness ride a lap around the circuit.
