After having announced they were working on a new 400cc engine derived from the new half-liter power unit for the 500cc-segment bikes released in late 2012, Honda unveils the new bikes, in preparation for the upcoming shows in Osaka and Tokyo, Japan.
Nothing to write home about, as the new 400cc machines are pretty much identical to their 500cc siblings. The three bikes share the same platform, and have been designed to meet the needs of beginners and those in search of smaller-displacement bikes.

The new models are CBR400R, CB400F and 400X. The CBR400R is a fully-faired machine, inspired from the sport series, while the CB400F is its naked version, though we'd rather say it's more of a semi-naked design. 400X is a sport-touring machine developed from the Crossover Concept, but aimed to short-range touring and commuting.

No word on pricing and availability at the time of writing, but we can vouch these bikes will first be sold in the Asia markets first, in countries such as Japan or India. Hopefully Honda has prospects of sending them overseas, too. The osaka show runs March 15-17, and the Tokyo one March 22-24.
